FAQs

1 – Are your PC cases made from kick drums?
Our cases are most certainly not built from pre-made drums. Each case is scratch-built from a raw maple veneer plywood shell/cylinder.

2 – Why might my case look different from the one pictured?
Due to the nature of the wood, each piece will have its own personality and look, dependent upon the grain and type of stain or color you choose for the finish. Because each piece is custom made, there may be some slight variations from what is pictured, but be assured, we use the same high-quality wood and craftsmanship for each piece.

3 – Why does it take weeks to receive an order?
Because each case is handcrafted, stained, finished, and put through our detailed quality control procedures, each piece requires some time to finish. Delivering a high-quality product is extremely important to us. We do not mass produce cases. But we do our very best to complete your case as quickly as possible.

4 – I want a quiet PC but that case looks like a drum. Aren't drums supposed to be loud?
Yes, real acoustic drums are loud. But our cases are not drums. They are not built from pre-made drums. Besides our cases have so much hardware attached to them that every surface is completely dampened, so much so that one of our cases is actually quieter than a metal case. In music terms, the cases are "bricks."

5 – Are there other stain colors or designs that I can special order?
We will try to fulfill any reasonable request; however, we are limited to what is available to us in the industry. Any special order would require at least another 2 weeks of wait time plus additional fees dependent upon the level of customization. Feel free to contact us with the specifics and we can tell you whether or not we can accommodate your request.

6 – What are the shipping fees?
Our shipping fees are based on the actual weight of the case (however, for the large 20-24" cases, shipping companies force us to use the dimension weight of the shipping container).  Each case is shipped separately. An additional $15 fee is charged for packaging materials so we can be sure that each case is protected properly for shipping to minimize damage in transit. We ship all packages through UPS. International orders should contact us for a specific (i.e. possibly cheaper) shipping quote.

7 – What is your return policy?
Please be assured that your satisfaction is our number one concern. Due to the nature of working with a natural wood product, there may be some irregularities in the grain and/or absorption of the stain color. This is not considered a defect or damage, but rather part of the personality of the product. Our stringent quality control insures that no piece is shipped if there are cracks or defects in the customization process. We do not accept returns for dents or scratches that occur through mishandling of the case, normal wear and tear, or damage due to use not originally intended. However, if your case is damaged upon receipt, contact the shipper immediately and then us, so that we can make arrangements to replace your case. For more details please see Terms and Conditions .

8 – Will my existing computer components fit in your case?
Almost always the answer is “yes.” However, the small 18” cases don't have room for any standard 5.25” drives. Long expansion cards (when installed in the slot nearest to the CPU) may interfere with the CD/DVD drive. Large oversized power supplies may not fit. See our specifications page for more information.

9 – Wood is an insulator, so a PC case made out of wood will run hotter than a metal case, right?
Wrong. The majority of heat removed from a PC case is through convection, not radiation. Very little heat (if any) is actually radiated by the case itself.

10 – Why not just build the cases from modified snare drums?
A typical snare drum measures 6" deep by 14" across, which is too small to house a PC. Our cases are roughly 9-11" deep and 18-20" across.
